Today there was a big surprise when we woke up this morning; there was no rain we could almost have called it a dry morning!! We were eager to get up and out today as we wanted to spend as much of the day as possible in the Hot Springs.
We got to the springs, and it cost $18 each to get not too bad but not the cheapest thing we have done. At Hamner Springs there are nine outdoor hot pools, three sulfur outdoor hot pools, and two normal swimming pools. The hot pools ranged from 34 degrees C to 43 degrees C.
It was a bizarre thing really seeing people walking round in Bikinis and swim shorts, yet it was bitterly cold outside. When you got in the pools, it was like having a lovely hot bath all it needed were some bubbles. We got talking to an older couple who had just come back from travelling the states and were now just travelling New Zealand; they had sold everything their house the lot so they could buy a huge motorhome and do it. We spoke to them a lot actually, and we asked a lot of questions and found some really good tips about New Zealand.
Anyhow we spent a fair few hours in the natural springs, and we even went in the sulphur pools Jane constantly moaned about the smell when we were in them but to be honest I got used to it, and it didn’t bother me.
After the springs we went to the crazy golf course, boy do I hate crazy golf, the clubs are never long enough, and I have to stoop which gives me a backache, crazy golf is not my idea of fun, but Jane wanted to do it, so I tried my best to enjoy it!
That was our day in Hamner Springs quite relaxing
